Ombre Nails

Hi guys, today I am going to be doing a nails tutorial and review as I have not done this in absolutely ages. I am not exactly the type of person who loves to do my nails as it always seems to go wrong and I regret doing them afterwards, however recently I am loving the ombre trend that people use on their hair and nails. My hair right now is quite short so I am not going to be dying it, however I thought I could give the ombre nails affect a go.

If you haven't heard of the ombre style before, basically it is using a few colours and gradually blending them together to create a pretty and high fashion look.
I wanted mine to look more elegant using pastel colours. You can either use two or three shades of the same colour and blend them together or two different colours. I decided to just use blue and pink because they look really good together and slightly blend in the middle to make purple.

The polishes I used were from models own scratch and sniff collection. They are not very expensive and are really nice colours and scents. I bought the blue and pink ones in scents of strawberry tart and blueberry muffin. By the way, when you first open the bottle you won't be able to smell the flavour, however I found that when it dries it smells really sweet and lovely.

So first what you have to do is apply a base colour. You can use plain white for this as it results in a pop of colour when you have finished. However I wanted mine to be slightly more natural and less eye-catching. If you want to do this then use the first colour of your ombre and paint the entire nail. I found that the models own colours looked fine after one layer but I would recommend applying two layers just to be certain.

Once you have applyed the base coat of polish and it is dry you can start with the ombreying. You will need a make-up sponge. Just cut the sponge into the size of your nail and paint your nail polishes onto it in the order you want your ombre to be in. Paint them so they over lap slightly a this will blend the colours together better. Also use quite a thick amount but not so it is too runny.

Now you will want to press the sponge onto your nail a few times so that the colour is transported. You may want to rub the sponge in one direction once or twice until you are happy with the ombre. Repeat this onto every nail. I would definitely recommend a top coat as it locks in the colour and makes the finished result look much better. And voila!

Thank you for reading. I hope this tutorial was helpful. I would definitely recommend giving this a go as I find this quite easy to do and yet it looks quite professional and very pretty. If you have any questions don't forget to comment, I like to see what you have to say. Thanks again, Charlotte xx

This weeks top reviews

1. Lush bubble gum lip scrub

I purchased this product a few weeks ago as I thought that the idea of eating sugar off my lips whilst exfoliating them was pretty cool. I chose the bubblegum flavour because it was pink, of course, but also that it smelt heavenly, a lot like candy as well. The first time I tried it I was amazed and then I got addicted. At one point, I actually just ate the sugar.

The scrub is in a cute little box so it fits great in my handbag. However if you decide to try this out make sure you have a moisturising lip balm, (I would recommend Vaseline,) to apply afterwards because the scrub can make the lips very dry if used too much. Overall I would score this product 4/5 because it tastes and smells great but doesn't really do the best job!

2. The body shop, tea tree collection

This collection includes a: face wash, face cleanser, face moisturiser, and tea tree oil.
I definitely use the tea tree oil the most as it is brilliant for treating spots. Also I really like the face cleanser to remove the last traces of make-up off my skin. However I did not like the face wash as it made my skin very dry like it feels when I have been in chlorine. I would recommend that you try this product if you have more oily skin than dry. The products came in a pretty bag too which was good. Overall this was a super cute and very useful gift and I would score it 4/5.

Again, thanks for reading this post, I really appreciate it. Bye :) xxx

The Wonderful World Of Vaseline

Today I decided to write a whole page devoted to Vaseline. I have been using this product ever since I was about five years old and I have always loved it. Sometimes it is easy to forget about all the little things that are so useful. I have used loads of different lip balms over the years, and in the end the first one ends up being the best.

From flavours of aloe vera to cocoa butter, Vaseline has everything you could possibly want, but is still introducing new scents for us to enjoy. This product is so moisturising and it also makes my lips shine like crazy. It's like a balm and a gloss all in one. Vaseline with cocoa butter is my favourite as it smells luxurious. This is probably one of the simplest but greatest beauty product, so if you haven't tried it, you must!

I also really like the rosy lips Vaseline. I wouldn't say that the flavour is particularly nice, however, it is still very moisturising and also slightly tints your lips. I find that it gives me an elegant and pretty looking lip colour about two shades darker than my natural tone.
As always, this Vaseline comes as a stick. I thought I would buy it as it would make a change not to be getting the Vaseline on my fingers. I liked the stick version because I found that it was more evenly spread on my lips. However, all the moisture had somehow gone and it was like rubbing on plastic! You may have guessed that I will not be using that again any time soon. In my opinion, the Vaseline in the tin is the most original and I love to always have it in my pocket so I can apply it whenever I want.

Overall, Vaseline has to be my favourite beauty product for the lips. It also comes in sunscreen version and is perfect for taking on a beach holiday. Also, Vaseline often have limited edition flavours. These include Creme Brulee and pink bubbly. Gorgeous!

Hi ladies.
So its coming up to Christmas, and if you are like me, you probably will be looking around everywhere for Christmas presents. I have had a good look around and found some excellent gifts to give to your family and friends.

1. The first great Christmas gift I found was in Lush. If you have never heard of this shop before, then you must go out and hunt for one. It is definitely one of my favourite shops. It sells gorgeous handmade cosmetics and bath products. I especially like the unique shower gels and bath bombs.

Christmas limited edition, snow fairy gift box, £11.95
This present is perfect for friends. You can buy this limited edition shower gel separately or you can buy the gift box. All I can say is that the smell is heavenly! Perfect for a girlie- girl who loves anything sweet, as the product smells of delicious candyfloss and pear drops. I think it smells as sweet as sugar with a fabulous fruity vibe. The box also comes with two sweet-smelling bath bombs. These will make your bath extra special and will make your skin silky soft too.
This present is amazing as it brings a girlie edge to Christmas, with everything your friend likes.

2. This next present is great for a white-Christmas. This gift is from super-dry. I find that all the clothing from here is very high quality. If I enter the shop, I can never get out.
Herders Mittens
Super dry, Herders mittens
Superdry Herders Mittens

I love these mittens as they are SO warm and cosy. The inside lining is incredibly soft. There is definitely no chance of your hands getting cold this winter. These are perfect Christmas presents for anybody.

3. This present is brilliant for your: brother, dad or boyfriend, especially if he likes James bond.
JUST BRILLIANT! It also has a very unique and edgy smell too it. Honestly, he will love it. The perfect Christmas gift, with the new film being released.

Well, that is it. I hope this post gave you some good ideas for gifts. I have had to buy my presents early as I am going to Florida for Christmas and I can't wait.
Merry Christmas to you all, and thank you again for reading!

Maybelline Beauty Products

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great halloween. Thankyou to all my latest followers and everyone who has commented on my blog, you're all amazing. Anyway, in this post I am going to review make-up, which is by the way one of my favourite things to do. Recently, I have been on a mission to find the greatest drugstore beauty products all costing less than £10. Today I am going to review some make- up from maybelline.

Maybelline, color sensational lip stains

I only came across these as I was rushing around the store on a Tuesday night, though I had been looking for a lip stain for a long time and never found the perfect one. I bought mine in number 180, a wink of pink and number 480, shy red. When I got home, I tried them on. I really like them. At first, it was slightly weird as I felt as though I was drawing on my lips with a pink Biro. The lip stain, made my lips stand out. Also, the colours are really bold and strong, and they even smell nice.
What I loved so much about this product is that it washes off straight away. Sadly, I did have to keep
re-applying every twenty minutes which has really frustrated me. However, it does not take much time to do this. Its absolutely perfect for busy people without much time.
The only other thing is that it does not taste as nice as it smells, lol, this is just a little thing I am paranoid about. Although, I would definitely recommend this product over a lipstick. The colour varieties are outstanding. The best thing about this lip stain, is that it is so easy to apply and you can use it as a lip liner as well as a lip stain. I am very happy with this product, and it is absolutely worth trying. RESULT! The costs vary from around £1.50 and £4.00 in the UK.

Maybelline, flared mascara

I have been using this product for quite a while now and it is definitely the best of all my mascaras, but some how I am still looking for a better one. This is a waterproof mascara so you don't have to be scared about going out in the rain. I wouldn't say this mascara makes your eyelashes a lot longer but it definitely adds depth, which might be what you are looking for. It isn't the easiest to apply from mascaras I have tested before, and I find that it tends to make my eyelashes sticky for about five minutes. I am so scared to blink in this time! Also, the mascara can easily clump if you are not careful. Although, when the mascara is on, it will not crumble, or flake, or drip, you won't even know its there. It is perfect! If you are looking for a volumising mascara adding a lot of depth to your lashes and wearing it for a long period of time, then this is the mascara for you. Prices vary from £5.00 to £8.00 in the UK.

Maybelline, BB cream

I actually bought this product a few weeks ago and I do wear it when I am out of the house quite a lot. It creates a natural glow on my face and also blurs out any spots. It also had a SPF 30 UV, which is great as its just like a suncream but got so many different and better qualities as well. I found that it does feel fresh and hydrating, plus its oil free. I do prefer to wear this instead of a foundation as its a lot less heavy and comes in different shades. Although, if you have a medium skin tone, I would use light as the colours seem to prove a shade darker than what it says on the cream.
This product did disappoint me a little as, basically, it is a tinted moisturiser not BB cream, but I do like this cream and I do recommend that you try it. The costs vary from £7.00 to £9.00 in the UK.

Thank you so much for reading. I hoped you enjoyed it. Feel free to comment or ask any questions.
Kisses
Charlotte.

Halloween

So, Its Halloween in four days and I thought I must do a post about it. I love the Erie spirit and excitement that lingers in the air on the day. But more importantly, I love the fashion. I am inspired by these outfits on the catwalk. They're so elegant and beautiful but also really spooky. I think Gothic fashion is one of the best styles out there. Including smokey eyes and blood red lips.

I really like this dress. Its unique, pretty and I love the way it flows. The black gloves and shoes complete the look perfectly.

This style is almost completely different. Its new and cool with a slight retro feel. The shoes are amazing. They go with the dress really well. However, they could be worn as more of a statement item as they are so unique and quirky. I think the pearl bracelets ruin the outfit as well as the buttons, but those shoes.... Gorgeous!

I think this dress is OK! the shoes go nicely with the dress and I like the way different materials of the same colour have been put together. Although, there is nothing that Wows me.

I adore this dress, its amazing. From the way it hangs to the ruffles and the belt! The belt definitely adds that extra vibe to the dress. Plus, the shoes are great. I like the way that this dress is white but it somehow still has that Gothic feel to it.

Hate the dress! Its hideous. Its far too heavy and feathery and erghh! I guess it is unique and VERY halloweenified. Sorry, its just not me.

This is my favourite dress out of the lot. Its fashionable and retro. I love the way she wears stockings with her heals, it adds a vintage affect. Its so nice because, somehow, its Gothic, retro and vintage style in the same dress. I love it, love it, love it !

So, that was my Halloween post. I hoped you enjoyed it. Feel free to comment :)
Thanks, Charlotte xxx
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

This weeks top 5 Reviews

1. Perks of being a wallflower
Perks of being a wall flower has finally hit the cinemas in England. It is about a lonely boy who finds himself growing more confident as he meets two people who change his life. This film was very good. I loved Emma watson in it, who plays Sam in the film, she is such a great actress and it is nice to see her playing something different than Hermione Granger in Harry Potter. The tunnel scene was amazing and she looked beautiful. Also, Ezra Millar, who plays Patrick, was funny.Overall this comedy/drama was deeply detailed and moving. It was really funny but also very sad, just like the book. I would reccomend this book as it is brilliant (better than the film!)

2. Onesies Pyjamas
These cozy all-in-one pyjamas are warm and extremely soft against your skin. With lots of different styles and prints , there is one perfect for everybody. They also come in every size, for teens and women. I bought one early this week and I have not been able to take it off. They even have hats on with ears (amazing!)
Plus, They are often made of pure cotten so they are perfect for summer months. There are thicker options for winter aswell. Unlike sleeping gowns or shirts that can ride up, onesies stay put and provide complete coverage for your body during the night, so there is no chance of cold drafts waking you up from your sleep
Great for a lazy day inside!

3. Kate Moss lipstick, Rimmel London
This new range of lipsticks by Kate Moss are beautiful. I like them because they are strong and bold colours with a slight shimmer to them. Personally I think they are gorgeous, but to be worn with confidence as they definately stand out. I was really happy with the burst of vibrant colour and the depth of it. The lipstick is matt and does not moisture, but it does last for a long time and you won't have to re-apply much, only really after eating. The lipstick collection fearures seven shades from her signature red to soft peaches, plum and pinks. I have been searching for a long lasting red lipstick for agers, and I have finally found the one. However, I love the peach shades as they offer a more relaxed and elegant look day to day.

4. Herbal Essence hair products
I first discovered this hair product a few months ago out of pure curiosity, and now I use it all the time. The products smell fresh and exotic. Also, the fragances are so natural and wild. When my hair dries it feels a lot more bouncy and volumized. My favourite is the Pearl and rose extract shampoo or the manderin and pearl conditioner. I definately reccomend Herbal Essence as it is brilliant and I have noticed my hair looking a lot healthier too.

5. Taylor swifts, Red album
By the way, I know this isn't really a review, (sorry!)
Finally Red is out and I can't wait to listen to it. It's her fourth album and it finds her choosing pop over country music. I love her single (we are never getting back together) but thats the only song I have heard from her new album. I think she is an amazing artist and I love her new hair, although I thought her hair was prettier when it was curly. She recently peformed on X factor UK, she was really good and had great advice for the contestants. I hope the album is a success, I know I will be buying it.
